The Lexington Park Lions Club celebrated 69 years of service to the community on Monday, June 22, with Past District Governor Dee Hawkins as honored guest.  On the agenda:   awards and recognitions, induction of new members, and installation of officers.

Lion Dana Davis was recognized as a Melvin Jones Fellow, citing her dedication to Lionism and her contributions to the club and to the community. This fellowship award is the highest form of recognition afforded by Lions International, and the recipient joins an elite corps of representatives serving as role models for Lions around the world.

Mary Springstead was congratulated by King Lion Amanda Adams on her selection as Lion of the Year. Lion Mary was recognized for her many contributions to the Lexington Park Lions this year and most notably for her outstanding work in making the annual charity golf tournament a rousing success.

Lion Jess Davis was placed on the Lions clubs International District 22-C Honor Roll in recognition of his outstanding service over an extended period of time to his Club and his Community.

Myra Raspa was thanked for her dedicated work with the Lexington Park Lions Scholarship program. Spouse of Lion Sal Raspa, Mrs. Raspa has been an integral part of the review and selection process for many years and, although she has resisted becoming a Lion in fact, she has a Lion’s spirit when it comes to serving the young people of Great Mills High School.

PDG Dee Hawkins conducted induction ceremonies for new Lions Marcel Brooks and Sue Fisher. Both Lions Brooks and Fisher have pledged their participation in functions of the Lexington Park Lions Club, to abide by the Lions Code of Ethics, and to contribute to the programs of the club, district, and Lions Club International.

In her final act of the evening, PDG Hawkins installed Officers and Board of Directors for Lions Year 2015-2016:
